There Will Be Trouble If Buhari Does Not Contest In 2019 – APC Secretary Says

February 13, 2018

Ahead of the 2019 Presidential Election, a party official of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has said that there would be too many consequences if the Incumbent, President Muhammadu Buhari decides not to contest.

This was the opinion of the APC National Organising Secretary, Senator Osita Izunaso when he was interviewed by This Day on Monday.
According to Senator Izunaso, if President Buhari refuses to seek a second term, then so many top men in the party would then have the chance to slug it out for the position which would cause uncertainty in the party.

This he said could result in the APC losing power in the 2019 Elections.

The APC Organising Secretary thus used the medium to call on President Muhammadu Buhari to declare his intention to run for office as soon as possible.

Senator Izunaso told This Day:

“It would not be in the interest of the party and Nigeria for President Buhari not to run.

“The consequence would be unimaginable as all the big wigs that have been hibernating would come out and fight to the finish.

“President Buhari should come out and run. If he declares today that he would run, it would be a popular decision and it would unite the party and galvanise it into action.”
